**About the role**
We are seeking an experienced Head of Brand Design to lead the visual representation of the Seqera brand across all touchpoints in partnership with our other design functions. This role combines strategic creative direction with hands-on design execution, ensuring cohesive brand representation across our company, products, and open-source technologies.
As Head of Brand Design, you will own the evolution and maintenance of Seqera's visual identity while leading a small but impactful brand team. You'll be responsible for translating our mission of advancing science into compelling visual stories that resonate with scientists, enterprise customers, and the broader life sciences community.
This is a foundational leadership role that will shape how Seqera shows up in the world as we scale further into a comprehensive enterprise platform. You'll work closely with Marketing, Sales, Product, & Design, and leadership teams to ensure our brand represents the innovation and scientific rigor that defines our work.
**What You'll Do**
- Creative Leadership & Strategy_
- Own the visual expression and storytelling of the Seqera brand across all surfaces—uphold design quality standards, direct creative workflows, and guide key visual decisions
- Evolve and maintain brand systems that enable consistency and creative flexibility across internal and external communications
- Drive hands-on design execution from concept through delivery across digital, print, and event environments
- Develop creative strategies that build Seqera's relevance and differentiation in the life sciences market
- Team Management & Development_
- Lead and mentor a small design team, fostering collaboration and professional growth
- Establish scalable design processes and workflows that enable fast iteration without sacrificing quality
- Set clear creative direction and provide constructive feedback through design reviews and critiques
- Build team capabilities to operate as a best-in-class design function
- Brand Implementation & Consistency_
- Ensure cohesive brand representation across all materials including, but not limited to, slide decks, brochures, one-pagers, web design, and other marketing collateral
- Collaborate on web experience design and development, working with modern web technologies and content management systems (Netlify, Sanity CMS, and similar platforms)
- Create and maintain comprehensive brand guidelines and design systems
- Develop iconography, architecture diagrams, and visual frameworks that communicate complex scientific concepts with a clear visual storytelling POV
- Coordinate event design needs and conference presence materials
- Cross-Functional Collaboration_
- Partner closely with Product Design to ensure seamless alignment between product experience and public brand
- Work with EPD and Scientific Development teams to translate Seqera's technical story into digestible brand experiences that communicate complex workflows and scientific concepts
- Collaborate with Marketing team to translate business goals into compelling visual narratives
- Partner with Sales and Customer Success teams to create effective sales enablement materials
- Present creative concepts and brand strategies to executive stakeholders
**About you**
- Required Experience:_
- 8+ years of brand design and creative direction experience, with at least 2-3 years in a leadership role with a background in scientific or technical communication design
- Proven track record of leading design within fast-paced, high-growth technology companies
- Ability to balance high creative standards with empathy, clarity, and team trust
- Strong portfolio demonstrating visual, typographic, and strategic thinking across diverse formats and channels
- Ability to create scalable design systems that work across multiple product lines and use cases
- Data-driven approach to measuring brand impact and creative performance
- Experience translating complex technical concepts into accessible, compelling visual narratives
