This role is within the Prime Video team which is part of Global Media and Entertainment in Amazon and delivers to customers a broad range of must-see film, TV and sports content around the world. We are looking for an exceptionally talented lawyer to support our rapidly growing Prime Video sports business. You will serve as a primary lawyer responsible for advising the sports business teams on a range of issues and be responsible for drafting commercial agreements with sports rights holders and production partners. You will work directly with the business teams, serving as lead counsel on a range of deals including strategic content licensing deals together with associated marketing and production work, providing day-to-day advice, resolving issues that arise in existing commercial relationships, and handling pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.
Key job responsibilities
Principal duties include:
- structuring, drafting, and negotiating complex distribution, licensing, production, marketing, and other commercial agreements;
- providing ongoing legal advice across a wide range of areas, including intellectual property and digital media;
- providing ongoing advice and guidance in relation to regulatory compliance including broadcast licensing, labour and employment matters in the context of he production of live sports events, and content compliance and handling contacts from regulatory bodies;
- providing ongoing advice to the relevant teams about the implementation of the contractual agreements, including advice to marketing, tech and product teams on rights and production agreements;
- Assisting with the development of forms, processes and policies to allow the business to scale and operate efficiently and for the dissemination of relevant information to all key stakeholders.
A day in the life
You will serve as one of the primary legal supports for the sports business team within the Prime Video business. Prime Video delights our customers around the world by delivering must-see movies, series, and premium sports within an utterly seamless streaming experience. You will be a legal and thought partner for the sports business on day-to-day matters as well as long-term strategic issues. You will own drafting, negotiating, and closing commercial agreements with sports leagues and federations, as well as other important business partners. Our lawyers get to solve a constant flow of novel challenges in a growing and exciting business. Working directly with business colleagues, you will serve as lead counsel in strategic rights deals and help manage existing commercial relationships. You will also research, advise, and develop expertise on new initiatives and regulatory matters that impact your business.
