Nanocharacterization Laboratory Technical Staff

**The Nanocharacterization Laboratory (NCL) **forms a central pillar of nanocharacterization facility for ICFO with state-of-the-art equipment to support ICFO’s mission for training and R&D at the highest international standard.

We are currently looking for a NCL Technical staff, who will join the team to provide support to the laboratory users, following the directions of the NCL Head.

The main responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:

- Perform basic materials and structures characterization, such as SEM, FIB, AFM, XRD, ellipsometry, FTIR.
- Look after the correct functioning of the lab facilities and of the lab tools, perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance works on some laboratory tools and support equipment according to established guidelines.
- Train users in the use of the laboratory tools described above, and in the general laboratory use including safety.
- Contact with tool suppliers and technicians regarding troubleshooting and maintenance/reparation visits.
- Write and update standard operating procedures (SOPs) and report results and changes.
- Manage NCL store material: stock control, supply, storage and replacement in the labs.
- Work in close collaboration with the other unit members.

Additionally, it would be considered as a plus:

- 2+ year experience in a similar position, preferably in a facility/lab of an international research and/or academic environment.
- A PhD in experimental/applied physics, material science or engineering with research track record directly relevant to the use of some of the afore-mentioned characterization techniques.
- Fundamental and hands-on knowledge of the aforementioned characterization techniques.
