**Role Purpose**
- Reporting to the Director, Regional Engineering South.
- To lead the in-region Field Engineering team.
- Lead and support the development, design, expansion and maintenance of the Data Centre and facilities infrastructure in region.
- To act as the country technical lead for the region’s network infrastructure, taking direction from central Engineering on procedures, processes, and standards.
- Taking its lead from the central operations and engineering functions, this team is responsible for in region operation of the various Network platforms and associated operations and delivery activity to the highest standards as defined by EXA Operations & Engineering group.
- To produce, manage and maintain documentation and records eg As Built documents, Preventative Maintenance records.
- Working closely with local Vendors in region to ensure quality of service provided by 3rd parties is of sufficiently high standard to support EXA both from a cost and delivery performance perspective.
- To ensure a smooth customer experience along the pre-sales, delivery and post-sales cycles for all regional orders regardless of delivery point and for all regional deliveries on behalf of non regional Sales, working closely with central and regional Service Delivery.
**Key responsibilities**
- To lead local Field Engineering staff as a unit to deliver and maintain network service coverage and carry out service deliveries and build related tasks.
- Support the line manager to meet established KPIs
- Act as first point of escalation for field team and facility issues
- Assist with training of team members
- Act as deputy to Regional Director when necessary
- To provide Operations support on a 24x7 basis in the case of emergency situations that cannot be dealt with by Central Operations or service suppliers.
- To ensure a close working relationship with local suppliers and partners during infrastructure purchasing and provisioning and subsequent operations to ensure efficient delivery, and to obtain early warning of delivery problems and early provision of contingency solutions.
- To provide support to Sales and Sales Engineering for customer prospects.
- Run field activities ensuring fulfilment within budget, records updated and proper handover of new build to Operations
- To accept and complete on time Project tasks assigned by Build Project Managers in compliance with performance metrics agreed - scope of tasks includes: Transmission Network Build projects management, basic problem handling and troubleshooting.
- To manage 3rd party contractors relationship (preventatively and reactively) ensuring network components are maintained in line with required KPIs and SLAs.
- To hold regular service review meetings with suppliers ensuring all work of FLM and 3rd parties is completed to company quality standards and drive improvements when necessary.
- To maintain the Datacentre against tight operational standards and SLAs and ensure compliance to external audits and standards as required by the business.
- To assist NOC and other central teams with issues during service delivery and operational stages
- Ensure suppliers work in accordance with local safety and security rules
- To produce, manage and maintain documentation and records, eg as builts, contracts, allocations, etc.
- To understand, monitor and support provisioning and maintenance of POP and DC facilities and systems so as to identify and minimize operational risks.
- Manage admin tasks, communication flow and interaction with regulatory authorities, customs agents, etc in close co-operation with regional Finance and Sales teams
- Asset tracking/inventorying equipment and plant.
- Complete on time field tasks including CPE installs, card installs, patching, testing using appropriate tools, analysis of test results, and basic problem handling and troubleshooting.
- Carry out commissioning and installation of telecom racks, ODFs, network equipment and associated power and data cabling.
- Adhere to all company security and health & safety policies, procedures, and practices
- Other tasks as may be required by management
