- 20% Travel (mostly within Spain)
- Substantial progressive professional experience including:
- Experience and knowledge working directly in the startup and/or venture capital ecosystem.
- Progressive experience working within the technology industry (software, IaaS, SaaS, ecommerce, venture investing in technology startups, etc.)
- Startup operating experience in business development, venture capital, or in leadership roles.
- Degree required
- Fluent or Native Spanish, both spoken and Written
- Fluent English
Job summary
Would you like to own developing and managing relationships with Seed funds, Business Angels, Incubators & Accelerators and top startups in Spain? Do you have the business savvy, technical insight and relationship development skills to mesh with the startup ecosystem and help further establish Amazon as the leader in the cloud computing?
As a Startup Business Development Manager within AWS, you will have an exciting opportunity to help shape and deliver on the strategy to build mind share and broaden the use of Amazon’s cloud computing platform with the best startups in Spain. Your responsibilities will include driving the necessary business insights, strategic and technical relationships with Incubators, investors and their portfolio companies (including their founders), to establish meaningful business relationships. You will work closely with the AWS sales, technical and partner teams to drive strategic interactions with startups to build long-term business opportunities. You’ll work closely with AWS business development, product management and marketing teams on strategic initiatives that align with AWS goals in the startup community. You will also act as a critical interface to the startup ecosystem in Spain, for all facets of AWS and Amazon.
Key job responsibilities
- Execute strategic initiatives, while working closely with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales, partners, marketing, technical, support, training teams, etc)
- Identify, develop and manage relationships with top startup organizations to educate them on how AWS can help their portfolio companies scale and grow their business by leveraging AWS services, resources, and go-to-market programs..
- Work with startup organizations as their single point of contact of all things AWS and Amazon, help them understand AWS benefits and where there may be exciting opportunities for their startups.
- Work closely with startup founders to ensure they’re successfully engaging with AWS, making sure they have the technical and business resource required for optimal customer experience, and identifying additional opportunities for them to work more deeply with AWS and other Amazon business units.
- Prepare and deliver data-driven reviews to the senior management about progress, achievements, and roadblocks.
- Participate in startup community events of all kinds to identify high potential startups and build personal relationship with startup founders and influencers.
- Evangelize AWS’ value and innovation culture to startup founders and ensure they have full awareness and access to the full spectrum of the resources and services AWS/Amazon has to offer
A day in the life
Your typical day will start with meetings with top Business Angels in the Barcelona area. You will discuss how AWS can support their portfolio startups. Then, you will have calls with startup founders to help them grow with AWS. And After our team weekly call, you will head to Malaga to meet with a very important incubator and their current batch of startups on the following day.

- Startup founder/CxO experience and/or venture investment experience.
- Previous work experience in large tech companies
- Capacity to handle the fast pace and continually evolving cloud computing market.
- Strong verbal and written communications and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations.
- MBA or equivalent executive level experience.
- Relevant business level technical knowledge of public cloud computing and the value proposition it provides to startups, with the ability to go deep enough on technical aspects to differentiate between various AWS services
