R&d Program Technician

Fall Creek is creating a world with better blueberries through its friendly, collaborative team spread across the globe. To help us accomplish this, we are seeking a qualified R&D Program Technician. This position will be located in **Aznalcazar - Seville (Spain)**.

The Fall Creek R&D Program Technician is responsible for assisting with the Fall Creek Farm and Nursery breeding and variety development program, under direction of the Assistant Breeder.

Under direction of the Assistant Breeder, this position is responsible for assisting with the Fall Creek Farm and Nursery breeding and variety development program.

**What You'll do at Fall Creek**:

- Responsible for accurate data collection from breeding and applied research plots.
- Assists with fruit evaluations including fruit sample collection and testing.
- Performs field mapping, tagging, and recording of all plant materials.
- Assists with all blueberry crossing activities and record keeping.
- Assists with germination, transplanting, and tracking of seed/seedlings from controlled crosses.
- Assists with routine care and maintenance of all plant materials.
- Performs tissue collection and record keeping of selections for clonal propagation.
- Performs routine up-keep and maintenance of crossing, propagation and testing facilities.
- Works closely with other departments and international teams on various R&D activities such as plant shipping, data reporting, and trial planning.
- Responsible for the accurate data entry in and utilization of the Fall Creek database.
- Supports Assistant Breeder to accomplish department goals and provides special project support as needed.
- Assures the highest level of confidentiality on sensitive matters concerning the nursery.

**What You Bring to Fall Creek**:

- Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in horticulture, botany, food science, or related field, 2+ years of experience in a similar field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, as well as:

- Effective English and Spanish verbal and written communication skills to present and exchange information and report daily activities.
- Solid knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to provide detailed reporting using Excel spreadsheets.
- Regular and reliable attendance at the primary place of business.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position. Must be able to team lift up to 35 pounds.
- Valid license of driving.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize work within set guidelines and follow through on a variety of requests.
- Ability to identify problems as well as manage multiple projects.
- Ability to work with and manage a high level of detailed information.
- Ability to collaborate with other team members and maintain a positive attitude. Must be able to exercise good judgment in recognizing scope of authority.
