Job Title:Senior Structural Engineer
Department:Applications Engineering
Reports To:Manager of Application Engineering EMEA
Location:EMEA
Job Summary:
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Design, analyze, and optimize solar mounting systems for assigned projects (metallic structures)
- Develop and maintain advanced Excel tools and macros to facilitate solar mounting system design, analysis, and product configuration
- Utilize programming languages such as VBA, Python, or MATLAB to enhance the functionality of Excel tools, macros, and in-house software platforms
- Act as customer’s primary technical consultant during the project phase. Provide technical support to the customer on design, drawings, loads calculation, and product related discussions
- Act as the internal technical leader for the assigned projects. Participate in project meetings, provide technical input, and estimate timelines and levels of effort as required
- Research national and international building codes, and standards to determine wind, snow, seismic and other governing loads
- Define and analyze tests to characterize the terrain
- Design and calculation of foundations using L-Pile (or similar) and Geotech reports
- Draft and check all drafting work for projects using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Solid Works
- Implement change requests
- Manage product changes and communicate them to the customer when necessary
- Develop and review project specifications, calculations, and drawings
- Work with internal stakeholders to produce automated engineering report and drawing templates
- Create a detailed tracker structure design report, and work with Professional Engineers/firms to certify the calculations and drawings of every project
- Create bills of material for each project
- Collaborate with various Array Technologies engineering teams, engineering contractors, IT, PMO and other stakeholders as needed to meet product roadmap requirements
- Maintain a thorough understanding of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to solar mounting systems
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in industrial, civil, structural or geotechnical engineering
- +3 years’ experience in project engineering/management
- +5 years’ experience in Engineering
- Master’s degree
- Experience in structural calculation TRICALC, CYPE (Metal 3D), ANSYS-CIVILFEM, CONSTELL
- Proficient in Excel macros and programming languages such as VBA, Python, or MATLAB, Python highly preferred
- Working knowledge of National building code standards like ASCE, Eurocode, AISC, and IBC
- Working knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Familiarity with industry standards, codes, and regulations related to solar mounting systems Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in the solar industry or wind industry
- 1-year Finite Element Analysis (FEA) experience to model structure, analysis, and design in software such as SAP2000, STAAD or equivalent others
- Knowledge of SolidWorks
- QGis, Civil 3D, ArcGIS or similar suite experience
