**ROLE SUMMARY**:
The **British College of Gava (BCG)** is an IB World School located just 20 minutes from the vibrant city of Barcelona. We are seeking to appoint a passionate and experienced **Head of English / English Literature Teacher** to join our Secondary school from August 2025.
- Lead the English department, including curriculum planning, team coordination, and raising attainment
- Model outstanding teaching and learning
- Drive innovation and high standards across the department
- Mentor and support English team members in their professional development
- Use data effectively to monitor student progress and inform planning
- Collaborate with other department heads and school leadership
- Play an active role in the wider school community

**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE**:

- Qualified Teacher Status (UK or equivalent)
- Minimum of 3 years' experience teaching **English Literature** at A-Level or IBDP English A (not EAL or second language)
- Demonstrated leadership experience or capacity to lead a team
- Strong academic background in English or Literature
- A student-centred approach and commitment to the school’s values
- Experience teaching within the IB programme (specifically English A: Language & Literature or Literature)
- Right to work in the EU
- Master’s degree or post-graduate qualification in a related field
