Eurovision Services is seeking a highly motivated Broadcast Systems Engineer to join the Technology department in our Madrid office, Spain.
ABOUT THE ES TECHNOLOGY TEAM
The Technology Team is the driving force behind all our technical infrastructure, networks, corporate systems, and software IT. It is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the entire technical landscape, which serves as the foundation for all permanent and event-based services for our customers (e.g., media organizations, sports federations, and event enterprises).
YOUR MISSION
As Eurovision Services transforms from a hardware-based environment to a scalable, platform-driven operating model, the Broadcast Systems Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the stability and continuity of our broadcast services throughout that journey.
This role will own the operation, maintenance, and lifecycle management of the broadcast infrastructure that powers our contribution and distribution services. From physical and virtual systems to broadcast equipment, racks, networking, and on-premises infrastructure, you will ensure our technology remains reliable, resilient, and ready to support mission-critical live events.
As a Broadcast Systems Engineer, you will report to the Platform Infrastructure team, while working closely with the Platform Architecture team.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Infrastructure Operation & Maintenance
- Operate and maintain the broadcast and infrastructure stack within Eurovision Services' facilities and data centers, covering hardware, racks, broadcast equipment, and the systems that run on them.
- Own day-to-day operational tasks across the infrastructure lifecycle — installation, configuration, maintenance, and upgrade — in line with the lifecycle plans and standards defined by Platform Infrastructure leadership.
- Monitor infrastructure health and performance, identifying degradation, capacity risks, and obsolescence proactively and escalating through the correct path before issues become incidents.
- Implement configurations and changes in line with the architectural standards and reference designs defined by Platform Architecture, flagging deviations or constraints early rather than absorbing them.
- Maintain an active understanding of Eurovision Services' network architecture and connectivity model, ensuring network constraints, capacity, and transport requirements are a considered input to infrastructure operations and lifecycle decisions.
- Manage vendor and equipment relationships at an operational level, coordinating maintenance windows, tracking hardware commitments, and escalating performance or delivery issues where needed.
Documentation
- Contribute to infrastructure documentation, ensuring the current state of the infrastructure estate is recorded accurately and kept current, reducing dependency on individual knowledge
YOUR KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in infrastructure operations, broadcast engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience operating and maintaining live, mission-critical broadcast environments.
- Experience implementing standards set by a separate architecture function, rather than defining them independently.
Technical Knowledge
- Practical experience across broadcast infrastructure fundamentals: contribution, processing, and distribution, including IP-based media transport, traditional signal chains, and satellite infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of network fundamentals: IP routing, VLANs, multicast, and fibre transport as they relate to broadcast operations.
- Comfortable producing and maintaining operational documentation: runbooks, SOPs, and escalation procedures.
- Familiarity with monitoring frameworks and incident response methodologies.
Soft Skills
- Structured, methodical approach to operational work, with a strong lifecycle and documentation mindset.
- Clear communicator, able to escalation constraints and risks early rather than absorbing them.
- Collaborative, particularly with Platform Engineering and Reliability Engineering.
- Calm and reliable under operational pressure, particularly during periods of organizational change.
