Schneider Digital is the digital department of Schneider Electric, leading the digital transformation in the company by giving support globally to our internal teams and our clients. Schneider Digital consists of 6 Digital Hubs worldwide which are strategically located to ensure a 24/7 support across the company (France, China, India, USA, Mexico and Spain). Our Digital Hub in Barcelona is formed by +450 employees working in strategic projects and different roles such as Data, Cybersecurity, ERP, Cloud, Infrastructures, IT Project Management or Digital Marketing.

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Software Architect to lead and own the end-to-end architecture of our unified web platform.

This role is accountable for driving scalability, performance, and reliability across complex, multi-layered web systems, while providing strong hands-on technical leadership and solution guidance across multiple teams and streams.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in large-scale web platforms, including non-logged-in and logged-in B2C, B2B, and eCommerce customer journeys, and the ability to translate these into robust, scalable technical solutions. A strong inclination to deep dive into code and platform internals (frontend and backend) is essential.

Architecture & Platform OwnershipDefine, design, and govern end-to-end architecture across frontend, middleware, APIs, backend, and integration layers, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards, security, scalability, and performance requirementsDrive technology strategy and architectural roadmap for web platforms (B2C, B2B, eCommerce), including cross-platform dependencies and integrationsLead platform-level initiatives focused on performance optimization, scalability, caching strategies (CDN/edge), and operational resilienceIdentify and address systemic gaps, bottlenecks, and technical debt across the platformEstablish observability frameworks, SLOs, and reliability metrics (e.g., Core Web Vitals), and lead RCA with durable fixesTechnical Leadership & SolutioningAct as the technical authority for complex system design, architecture decisions, and critical delivery milestonesProvide hands-on guidance in architecture reviews, solution design, and key code areas; mentor engineering teams to improve engineering quality and maturityTranslate business requirements into scalable, implementation-ready solutions, ensuring feasibility and alignment with platform strategyGuide adoption of modern architecture patterns including modular/monorepo architectures, microservices, API-first and event-driven designsEnforce engineering best practices in secure coding, performance optimization, and system reliabilityGovernance, Quality & Delivery AssuranceLead architecture governance, design reviews, and technical audits, ensuring adherence to standards, performance benchmarks, and regulatory requirementsEnsure strong decision gates and quality checkpoints across the delivery lifecycle GeneralPartner closely with QA, DevOps, and Release Management to ensure robust CI/CD, release governance, and production readinessOversee impact analysis of changes across frontend, backend, APIs, caching layers, and integrations to ensure minimal risk and high release confidenceStakeholder & Cross-Functional LeadershipClearly communicate architecture vision, trade-offs, and risk positions to both technical and non technical stakeholdersCollaborate with Product, Engineering, QA, and Business teams to align customer experience with platform capabilitiesInnovation & Continuous ImprovementDrive adoption of modern web and platform engineering practices (API-first, cloud-native, headless CMS, composable architectures)Introduce tools, frameworks, and practices to improve developer productivity, platform performance, and delivery efficiencyStay current with evolving technologies across frontend ecosystems, CMS, and digital commerce platformsWhat qualifications will make you successful for this role?
