Do you have experience in business development and account management, with a passion for cycling?

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager based in Spain, able to work from our offices in Girona to provide business development and deliver commercial growth. You will support the growth of the gcn en español cycling YouTube channel in Spain.

This means growing revenues by building strong client relationships and developing incremental business with new and existing cycling brands.

Job Responsibilities

Clients

  1. Develop new business opportunities in Spain and oversee Spanish-speaking clients (current and new): develop and maintain relationships with Spanish-speaking cycling brands.
  2. Become the main point of contact for gcn en español commercial partners in Spain.
  3. Learn and understand the client’s business, their goals, challenges, and opportunities. Keep updated on their business performance. Know their market and products in detail, learn what success looks like for them. Apply this knowledge to solve their problems and projects.
  4. Grow the business by seeking and proposing new business solutions that deliver against clients’ marketing and communication goals and aspirations.
  5. Ensure that branded content created features the appropriate brands and meets the agreed contractual terms.
  6. Deliver commercial contracts. Take responsibility for delivering and implementing the specifics of the commercial contractual terms.
  7. Build strong client relationships. Be a business partner, apply insight with honesty and openness. Strengthen the relationship to ensure retention and growth.
  8. Deliver excellent client service and reporting. Use the tools at your disposal to provide them with reporting and analysis of content featuring our brand partners.

Internal Team

  1. Work with the wider commercial and business development team to unlock new opportunities for partnerships and branded content.
  2. Discuss commercial opportunities and where there is interest, pass contacts and leads to the relevant person on the commercial team.
  3. Communicate with the Commercial team and issues or questions from your discussions with Spanish-based brands.
  4. Collaborate with the wider team and key stakeholders. Build excellent relationships with the content teams, and the GCN en español team in particular, to ensure that they understand the value of working effectively with commercial partners and our contractual obligations.
  5. Product delivery and placement. Ensure when content teams need products, they are supplied. When our brand partner has new products, ensure Play Sports Network content teams are informed and educated on them.
  6. Use Company internal systems to efficiently run your brand accounts, keeping stakeholders up to date and informed on progress, deliverables, resources needed, and financial performance.
  7. Champion great work with your brands, monitor fans’ feedback and engagement relaying highlights to our partners.
  8. Ensure key areas of the business are kept up to date, i.e. Presenters, Finance, Legal, etc.
Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Behaviours, Aptitudes, Approach

Experience

  1. 3+ years experience as a Sales/Business Development professional.
  2. Exposure to influencing commercial partners and team members.
  3. Experience generating and managing commercial deals/contracts ideally in the cycling or media industry.

Aptitudes

  1. Native Spanish speaker with English language skills.
  2. Able to work from Girona and travel as necessary to visit current and prospective clients in Spain.
  3. Able to self-motivate and problem solve and use initiative.

Knowledge

  1. Knowledge of and interest in cycling and the cycling market.
  2. Ideally, have undergone some sales training.
  3. Financial understanding - takes responsibility for income (and profit), recognises when to escalate commercial issues.
  4. Able to understand and deliver on commercial contracts.

  2. Well organised and able to plan ahead, thinking through the upcoming steps ahead.
  3. Ability to spot new opportunities, act on them and expand existing ones with commercial partners.
