We need experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations to build and lead teams that deliver high‑availability AWS services—EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock—exclusively for EU customers. For more information on ESC, see the launch of the ESC in 2025, collaborating with global AWS teams to shape service and technology evolution.Collaborate with technology leaders to improve day‑to‑day operations, ensuring availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC.Participate in on‑call rotations to resolve incidents outside of normal business hours.Lead the creation, revision, and improvement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and drive operational best practices.Provide constructive feedback on change‑management documents and support the execution of the team’s operational backlog.Design, develop, and test scripts to automate workflows and enhance system efficiency.Educate service teams on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud, fostering a culture of mutual understanding.Work as part of a team to root‑cause issues and maintain system resilience and fault tolerance.Eligibility RequirementsFluency in written and spoken English.Must be a national of an EU member state and reside in the EU.Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union.Employees will participate in an on‑call rota.Basic QualificationsNational of an EU member state.Demonstrated expertise in systems engineering with hardware, software, networking, and operating systems.Experience scripting processes in Bash, Python, or Ruby.Solid understanding of Linux and networking, and ability to troubleshoot and anticipate performance, reliability, and availability issues.Ability to lead SOP creation and drive operational best practices.Preferred QualificationsExperience with monitoring frameworks such as CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, or Elastic.Experience actively mentoring junior engineers and leading cross‑organizational initiatives.Experience supporting services in AWS or other cloud environments.Experience operating 24x7 high‑availability, distributed software applications.Experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g., CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible).Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
