To spearhead this initiative, we are actively seeking experienced systems engineers with a strong background in automation and operations. As part of the AWS Managed Operations team, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering high‑availability AWS services, including EC2, S3, Dynamo, Lambda, and Bedrock, exclusively for EU customers. For more information on ESC please check out our blog: the launch of the ESC in 2025, working closely with global AWS teamsCollaborate with technology leaders to enhance day‑to‑day operations, ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESCParticipate in “on‑call” rotations to resolve incidents occurring out of hoursEngage in the development and testing of scripts to provide practical solutions to enhance workflowsProvide constructive feedback on change‑management documents and work to address the team’s operational backlogShare insights on the complexities of the European Sovereign Cloud with service teams, fostering a culture of mutual understandingAssume 24×7 on‑call responsibility, root‑cause issues, and maintain operational excellenceEligibility RequirementsFluency in written and spoken English is requiredA national of an EU member state and residing in the EU to operate the AWS European Sovereign CloudAmazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European UnionEmployees will participate in an on‑call rotaBasic QualificationsNational of an EU member stateDemonstrated expertise in systems engineering working with hardware, software, networking, operating systemsExperience scripting processes in a language such as Bash, Python, or RubySolid understanding of Linux and networking; able to troubleshoot and anticipate problems that affect performance, reliability, or availability of software systemsAble to lead the creation, revision, and/or improvement of SOPs and drive operational best practicesPreferred QualificationsExperience with monitoring frameworks (CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic, or similar)Experience actively mentoring junior engineers and working cross‑organizationally, leading strategic team effortsExperience supporting service in AWS or other cloud systems or serviceExperience operating 24×7 high‑availability, distributed software applications and performance tuning software applications and optimizing fleet utilizationExperience with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, CloudFormation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or similar)About The TeamAWS values diverse experiences.
