Job Overview

As a member of the Chassis Systems Design team at Applus IDIADA, the Chassis Design Engineer will engage in various design initiatives related to critical chassis components, including suspensions, braking systems, steering mechanisms, and wheel assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of the design process for chassis systems.
  • Ensure optimal integration and layout of components within the vehicle.
  • Define and manage changes to the Bill of Materials (BOM).
  • Assist in the generation of Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA).
  • Contribute to the Development Plan (DVP) creation.
  • Implement Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles in the design.
  • Manage supplier relationships effectively.
  • Provide support for the assembly of prototype and mule vehicles as needed.
  • Aid in the formulation of technical specifications for chassis components.
  • Prepare technical documentation and monitoring reports.
  • Participate in project meetings and cross-functional design evaluations.
  • Collaborate with other technical departments.
  • Propose innovative ideas for Research and Development projects.

Qualifications

Educational Background

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, with a focus on Mechanics or Automotive Engineering.

Language Proficiency

  • Proficient in English.
  • Additional languages are a plus.

Candidate Profile

  • Previous experience in the automotive OEM sector is advantageous (Tier 1 component experience is also relevant).
  • Strong understanding of chassis system functionalities.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing techniques and materials pertinent to chassis design.
  • Proficient in CATIA V5 for 2D and 3D modeling.
  • Knowledge of CAE and simulation tools (e.g., ADAMS, Patran/Nastran) is beneficial.
  • Understanding of GD&T principles and tolerance analysis.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of engaging at various organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated empathy, teamwork, and assertiveness.
  • Goal-oriented with a strong service mindset.
  • Open to working in a diverse, international environment.
  • Proactive and adaptable in approach.
  • Willingness to work internationally.
