The Greater Toledo Community Foundation is seeking a Vice President of Philanthropic Services to lead our development and donor services efforts. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting prospective donors to support our mission.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the Philanthropic Services department, including supervising staff and developing strategies to increase and enhance development and donor services.
Identify and build relationships with potential donors, including individuals, families, businesses, and private foundations, to attract new funds to the Foundation.
Work with prospective donors to establish funds through philanthropic advising and develop and manage prospect and donor portfolios.
Develop and implement programs, activities, and services to develop and maintain good relationships with potential and current donors, affiliated community foundations, and professional advisors.
About the Greater Toledo Community Foundation:
The Greater Toledo Community Foundation is a community asset, a collection of funds established by donors interested in philanthropy and supporting the Toledo area. With approximately $400 million in assets, we are the largest grant maker in the Toledo area, granting $20 million per year.
Requirements:
Minimum five years of professional fundraising experience, including cultivating, soliciting, and closing prospective donors with a record of six-figure major gift history and successful planned gifts experience.
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of state and federal taxes and gift and estate giving methods in regard to charitable giving.
Knowledge of community foundations preferred but not required.
Outstanding written and verbal skills, with the ability to develop interpersonal relationships with multiple constituents.
Ability to plan, organize, manage, and remain accountable, with experience in making group presentations and committee management.
Impeccable ethics, initiative, enthusiasm, and ability to establish credibility.
Ability to function in a confidential manner and maintain a high level of expertise regarding state and federal taxes, gift and estate giving methods, and the legal aspects of charitable giving.
Physical Requirements:
While this is mainly an office position, the ability to lift small boxes is required occasionally. Some in-town travel and occasional out-of-town travel for professional development opportunities may be required.
