About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax and A.P. Accountant to join our Finance team in Barcelona. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of financial and management accounts, as well as the ongoing development of our finance teams' systems and processes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Filing of indirect tax returns to the relevant authorities.
  • Preparation of data needed for IPT reporting and submission of Spanish Premium Tax filings.
  • Responsibility for the correct reporting of VAT figures in financial statements, VAT reporting to the authorities, and filing of returns.
  • Preparation of Consorcio filings.
  • Preparation of P&L mapping from US GAAP to local GAAP.
  • Arrangement of tax payments as required.
  • Liaison with Spanish and Italian tax advisors.
  • Reporting to UK, Luxembourg, and Houston tax teams.
  • Preparation of the annual tax information request for the business units accounted for in the Barcelona office.
  • Preparation and update of tax planning to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Booking of tax activity in the general ledger.
  • Management and maintenance of the company's tax database.
  • Monthly reconciliation of indirect taxes vs General Ledger accounts, and assistance in the reconciliation of direct tax accounts.
  • Preparation of the consolidation and analysis of financial data with a tax perspective.
  • Streamlining of the process of tax filings.
  • Assistance to the A.P. team in the preparation of internal and external audits.
  • Regulatory compliance reporting.
  • Preparation and submission of reporting to the Spanish Central Bank.
  • Monitoring of regulatory changes.
  • Collection, assignment, and follow-up of notifications from the tax authorities.
  • Assistance to the UK Tax Team with transfer pricing reporting.
  • Assistance to the A.P. team with the monthly close.
  • Assistance with the preparation of the annual statutory accounts.
  • Participation in cross-training with A.P. team members.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
  • Proficient in MS Office package.
  • Fluent proficiency in Spanish and English.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience as a Tax Accountant or similar role.
Preferred Requirements:
  • Fluent proficiency in French and/or Italian.
