Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development

The Head of Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development plays a pivotal role in driving the success of TE Connectivity's medical device products from prototype to market. This position leads initiatives to mature products through scaling of assembly processes and influences device design to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM).
This role collaborates closely with cross-functional teams, including New Product Introduction (NPI) Leads and project stakeholders, to define a competitive manufacturing strategy.
Responsibilities- Team Leadership: Lead and manage the manufacturing engineering team, providing guidance, mentoring, and training to ensure the team's success and professional growth.
- Engineering Expertise: Possess wide knowledge and experience on engineering technologies to support prototype through high-volume manufacture, including fixture design, material handling, bonding technologies, quality control methods, application methods, packaging, and more.
- Advanced Technologies: Lead expert on multiple assembly technologies, such as laser welding, ultrasonic welding, heat staking, sensors, robotics, vision systems, and other cutting-edge technologies.
- Project Management: Capable of resource allocation, delegation, constructive critique, and monitoring technical work to satisfy project objectives.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design engineering, production, and quality assurance, to develop and implement new products or processes.
- Process Development: Develop and implement manufacturing processes and procedures to optimize production efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Risk Management: Identify risks of inability to meet targeted Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and champion solutions to recover.
- Technology Implementation: Manage and oversee the implementation of new equipment, technologies, and automation systems to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiency.
- Strategy Alignment: Ensure the technological and manufacturing strategy alignment between Research and Development (R&D) and Operations.
- Supplier Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers and vendors to source and evaluate new technologies, materials, and equipment to improve manufacturing processes and reduce costs.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and guidance to resolve complex manufacturing issues, troubleshoot problems, and optimize production output.
- Documentation: Responsible for the final manufacturing documents, including but not limited to: Bill of Materials (BOM), Work Instructions, Test Plans, Validation and Verification Reports, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Engineering Change Orders, Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ).
