About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Search Relevance Optimization Engineer to join our team at Mediamarktsaturn Plattform Services GmbH. As a key member of our E-commerce Search team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing search relevance configurations and parameter settings for our Apache Solr-based E-commerce Search Engine.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all search relevance configurations and parameter settings inside our Apache Solr-based E-commerce Search Engine and data processing rules.
  • Collaborate with POs, Data Analysts, and Search Managers to ensure seamless communication and alignment on active topics and business requirements.
  • Work with data scientists, backend engineers, and product managers to improve our relevance models, filters, mappings, and products.
  • Participate in discovery meetings and architectural discussions/decisions with the team to drive innovation and improvement.
  • Develop and maintain technical and feature-related documentation to ensure knowledge transfer and operational efficiency.
Requirements
  • Strong understanding of Solr and its capabilities.
  • Experience with search algorithms and processes related to data ETL (structured collections/indexes, field types for searching/filtering/bucketing, etc.).
  • Knowledge of search relevance optimization techniques (precision, recall, nDCG, etc.).
  • 1st or 2nd level support experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent technical understanding and ability to quickly grasp new tasks and complex subjects.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
