Head of Procurement, Global Tail Spend

This role is a key leadership position within the Global Procurement Organization (GPO) at Amazon, an inclusive employer and a member of Mygwork, the largest global platform for the LGBTQ+ business community.

About the Role

The Head of Procurement, Global Tail Spend is responsible for overseeing, optimizing, and executing tail spend strategies within GPO. This role is critical in ensuring that procurement operations are efficient, cost-effective, and aligned with the company's strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives for managing tail spend, streamlining and automating procurement processes to reduce costs.
  • Lead, develop, and inspire a diverse, global team of procurement professionals, fostering a high-performance and continuous improvement culture.
  • Drive tail spend catalogue efficiencies at scale.
  • Engage and collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to ensure procurement strategies support overall business objectives.
  • Define and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) for procurement process and shared services, analyze data, benchmark against industry best practices, and report on performance to drive continuous improvement.
  • Develop and manage the procurement budget, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices to ensure procurement processes and shared services remain competitive and effective.
Requirements
  • Experience in team management.
  • Experience in supply chain.
  • Experience working with, presenting to, and influencing senior executives up to VP level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience implementing repeatable processes and driving automation or standardization.
  • MBA.
  • Experience defining program requirements and using data and metrics to drive improvements.
