Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lighting Designer to join our in-house design team at Utopia Design, a leading real estate development company. As a Lighting Designer, you will work on high-end hospitality projects in the UK and worldwide, collaborating with interior designers and architects to create innovative lighting concepts that enhance the design and user experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Interpret client briefs and collaborate with design teams to develop creative lighting concepts that complement and enhance the design and user experience.
  • Produce detailed lighting designs, including sketches, drawings, schedules, and 3D renders.
  • Specify high-quality lighting products and fixtures aligned with the project aesthetic and goals.
  • Adjust designs based on client feedback while maintaining functionality.
  • Independently explore innovative materials and techniques to enhance future projects.
  • Create installation manuals and documentation.
  • Supervise and manage the lighting production process.
  • Create immersive experiences where physical space meets digital interaction.
Requirements:
  • A degree in Lighting Design, Product Design, Interior Architecture, or Spatial Design, or equivalent.
  • At least five years of professional experience in lighting design, preferably in high-end residential and hospitality projects.
  • Proven experience in lighting design, with a strong understanding of material properties and solutions.
  • Ability to think from small to big scale in spatial setups.
  • Proficiency in 3D software, including Rhino, Grasshopper, Sketch-Up, Dialux, AutoCAD, and Adobe Suite programs.
  • Ability to produce high-quality sketch renders for internal reviews in rendering software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, capable of meeting high industry standards.
  • A portfolio sample of work, including professional and academic projects.
  • Professional level of English.
Nice to Have:
  • Familiarity with UK/EU building regulations.
  • Experience in hospitality design.
  • Proficiency in rendering and animation software, including Twinmotion, V-ray, Enscape, and Unreal Engine.
  • Ability to work remotely.
