About the Role:
i2CAT Foundation is seeking a highly skilled Junior Systems Engineer to join our Research Infrastructures team within the Operations & Digital Transformation area. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our research areas, including Mobile Wireless Internet, Internet of Things, and Vehicular Communications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation: Participate in the design and implementation of the 6GCAMLab facilities, a key experimental infrastructure for research and development in enabling technologies for future Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM).
- Deployment and Testing: Deploy, commission, and test sensors and network infrastructure elements for V2X communications, as well as implementation and testing of connected autonomous vehicles prototypes based on ROS and open-source frameworks for autonomous driving.
- Use Case Development: Deploy, demonstrate, and performance evaluate advanced CAM use cases on real mobility scenarios.
- Dissemination: Participate in the dissemination activities of 6GCAMLab, contributing to the elaboration of technical papers to be submitted to conferences and journals.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering with at least 1 year of experience.
- Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with hardware/software development of embedded systems, programming with C, C++, and Python languages, Linux and networking troubleshooting, and knowledge of networking technologies, Cloud Computing, and edge computing.
- Language Skills: Excellent written and spoken English.
Desirable Skills:
- Robotics Operating System (ROS) experience.
- Knowledge of research trends in vehicular communications.
- Knowledge of protocol stacks for V2X communications: ETSI G5 stacks, IEEE 802.11p, C-V2X and 5G.
- Knowledge of simulation tools for vehicular communications, e.g., Omnet++, SUMO, ns-3, and CARLA.
