Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Predoctoral researcher to join our Research group on Neuromuscular and Mitochondrial diseases at the Vall d'Hebron Research Institute (VHIR). The successful candidate will participate in the project "Identification of factors regulating mitochondrial respiratory complex I function and stability: exploring novel opportunities for therapeutic intervention (TARGETCOMPLEX-I)", which is part of the project PID OB-I00, financed by MCIN/AEI/ and by the FSE+, by the Call Formación de Personal Investigador Predoctoral (FPI) linked to a Proyecto de Generación del Conocimiento 2023.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate in the generation, management, and biochemical/molecular characterization of genetically modified mice.
- Design and conduct in vivo and in vitro preclinical assays for complex I deficiency.
- Write manuscripts and present the results at local and international meetings.
- Contribute to the general shared tasks of the laboratory.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's (300 ECTS credits) or Master's Degree in biomedical sciences (or equivalent).
- Fluency in English (written and spoken).
- High motivation, reliability, and initiative.
- Strong scientific curiosity.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team.
- Good organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Certification as User of Laboratory Animals (certified for A, B, and C functions).
- Prior experience working with cell culture and laboratory mice.
- Prior experience in state-of-the-art biochemistry and molecular biology techniques.
