Military Safety Operations Manager

Role Significance
At Amazon, we seek skilled and experienced professionals to ensure our operations are conducted safely and efficiently. As a Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Manager within the Amazon Fulfillment Centre (FC), you will play a crucial role in enhancing safety standards both on-site and regionally.
Key Responsibilities
Your primary responsibilities will include managing various aspects of performance in your area, such as:
- Overseeing the health and safety functions at the FC, including staff supervision to meet objectives.
- Engaging proactively in collaborative health and safety initiatives across all operational sites.
- Providing expert advice and guidance on health and safety matters to all relevant stakeholders.
- Conducting reviews and audits of health and safety management systems, continuously seeking improvements.
- Developing strategies to organize work systems that minimize health and safety risks, recommending necessary adaptations to equipment and processes.
- Establishing robust reporting mechanisms for health and safety statistics.
- Delivering management information and statistics pertinent to your area of responsibility.
- Facilitating effective change management processes in the dynamic environment of the FC.
- Leading initiatives to foster a cultural shift towards safety across a large, complex, multi-shift operation.
- Implementing and reviewing global safety policies to ensure compliance with local regulations.
This position offers a diverse range of responsibilities at one of our facilities, allowing you to make significant contributions to our safety culture. You will oversee health and safety standards while enhancing operational efficiency.
Your leadership will guide your team in implementing changes based on employee feedback and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement. Your role is vital in ensuring employee safety, satisfaction, and productivity, as you take ownership of health and safety practices to cultivate a culture centered on safe operations.
Basic Qualifications
- A degree and a qualification in Técnico Superior en Prevención de Riesgos Laborales, including specializations in Seguridad en el Trabajo, Higiene Industrial, and Ergonomía & Psicosociología aplicada, in accordance with Spanish Health and Safety regulations.
- Proven experience in team management.
- Experience in adhering to local Health and Safety legislation.
- Advanced proficiency in both verbal and written English and the local language.
- Familiarity with Lean, 5S, and Kaizen methodologies.
- Qualifications or experience in sustainability practices.
- Experience in communicating effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including peers and leadership.
- Chartered membership of a Human Resources industry body (e.g., IOSH) to support people management.
