Boeing is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Systems Safety Expert to join its Digital Engineering team in Europe.



The successful candidate will have a strong background in systems safety analysis and experience working with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements, and procedures. They will be responsible for providing safety design and analysis expertise to program stakeholders and leadership, utilizing Model Based Engineering/Digital Engineering tools to analyze architectures/designs and develop safety deliverables.



This role requires a deep understanding of systems engineering and systems safety, with a focus on Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, training, and tools. The ideal candidate will have excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies.



The typical salary for this position is around €90,000 - €120,000 per year, depending on experience. Boeing offers a range of benefits, including a competitive salary, comprehensive health insurance, and a generous retirement plan.



This is a locally hired position in Europe, and candidates must have current legal authorization to live and work in the region. Benefits and pay are determined at the local level and are not part of Boeing U.S. based payroll.



Required Skills and Qualifications


  • Strong background in systems safety analysis and experience working with commercial airplane certification, safety requirements, and procedures
  • Deep understanding of systems engineering and systems safety, with a focus on Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) processes, methods, training, and tools
  • Excellent collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies
  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry, or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years' relevant experience in systems, systems safety, hardware, or software development
  • Experience with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, MIL-STD-882E, or similar
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English
  • Able to travel both domestically and internationally
  • Must be legally able to work in Europe


Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)


  • 5+ years of experience performing system safety analysis and/or studies
  • 5+ years of experience with FAR Part 25.1309, and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754
  • 5+ years of working knowledge of Hazard Analyses, FMEA's, Airplane Level Threats (Particular Risk Analyses) and Fault Trees and/or System Safety Assessments (SSAs)
  • 5+ years of experience developing/applying aviation-related system safety analysis methods such as System Safety Risk Assessments, Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessment (FHA) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
  • 5+ years of experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design or analysis (e.g., Flight Controls, Hydraulics, Avionics, Fuels, etc.) or Systems Integration
  • Pilots license
  • Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA), Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Model Based Engineering application and toolsets (such as MATLAB Simulink, SCADE, Cameo, Rhapsody, CAFTA, PTC Windchill, 3DX, etc.)
