Job Overview

Boeing Research and Technology-Europe is on the lookout for a Lead Systems Safety Specialist, who will report to the Manager of Model Based Safety and Platform Systems. This role is pivotal in the Digital Engineering (DE) Global Center, which is dedicated to facilitating Boeing's transition to Digital Engineering. The selected candidate will concentrate on the formulation, implementation, and execution of system safety evaluations, employing advanced model-based techniques.

As a Systems Safety Specialist, your responsibilities will encompass collaborating across various functions to guarantee that safety assessments at both the aircraft and system levels are conducted with precision. A comprehensive understanding of the intricate integration of aircraft systems, human factors, and operational environments is essential for this position. The deliverables related to Airplane Safety and Systems Safety are crucial for ensuring compliance and demand meticulous attention to detail alongside a strong engineering curiosity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver safety design and analytical expertise to program stakeholders and leadership.
  • Employ Model Based Engineering/Digital Engineering tools to assess architectures/designs and produce safety documentation.
  • Conduct research in systems engineering and systems safety, focusing on Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies, processes, training, and tools.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or a related field from an accredited institution.
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience in Systems, Systems Safety, Hardware, or Software development.
  • Proficiency with ARP4754B, ARP4761A, MIL-STD-882E, or similar standards.
  • Fluent in both verbal and written English.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in Europe.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 5 years of experience in conducting system safety analyses and/or studies.
  • More than 5 years of experience with commercial aircraft certification, safety requirements, and procedures.
  • Extensive knowledge of Hazard Analyses, FMEA's, Airplane Level Threats, and System Safety Assessments (SSAs).
  • Familiarity with FAR Part and industry practices like ARP 4761 & 4754.
  • Over 5 years of experience in developing and applying aviation-related system safety analysis methods.
  • Experience in Commercial Airplane-Systems design or analysis.
  • A pilot's license is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Model Based Safety Analysis (MBSA) and Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools.
  • Strong collaboration skills and experience with Agile methodologies.

Additional Information:

This position does not offer relocation assistance. Candidates must reside in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense. Boeing is not willing to sponsor applicants for employment visa status. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the designated location.
