About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Engineer to join our team at Vall d'Hebron Institut de Recerca. As a Research Engineer, you will play a key role in developing clinically relevant image processing tools for applications in the stroke setting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead engineering projects in the medical image context from beginning to end, utilizing curated databases and state-of-the-art algorithms.
  • Write comprehensive reviews of medical image processing algorithms, preparing for translational projects.
  • Transform engineering projects into clinical and technical publications, showcasing your expertise.
  • Assist in writing grant applications for financing, ensuring the success of our research initiatives.
  • Collaborate with external entities to oversee data entry processes and design solutions, driving innovation.
  • Participate in smaller projects as an engineering aid to clinical projects, contributing to the growth of our team.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field.
  • Fluency in Python, with a minimum of PyTorch, Numpy, and Pandas.
  • Comfortable with git and ssh.
  • Fluency in English, with a minimum of B2/C1 preferred.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field, either completed or in progress.
  • Validated experience in medical image/deep learning projects, with any publication record valued.
  • MongoDB experience.
  • Familiarity with medical imaging modalities and image formats.
  • Experience in training, testing, and deploying deep learning solutions, particularly with PyTorch.
