As an Engineering Manager for the Travel Vertical at Groupon, you will lead and inspire a team of engineers to develop scalable solutions that enhance our travel offerings.

Your focus will be on driving innovation, ensuring the seamless operation of our travel platform, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver top-notch customer experiences.

You will be responsible for mentoring your team, optimizing performance, and ensuring alignment with Groupon's strategic objectives.

This role demands a combination of technical expertise, leadership, and a passion for the travel industry.

You'll spend time on the following:

  • Leading a team of software engineers to help us develop microservices at a scale that is required for Groupon
  • Mentoring, and coaching your direct reports to be the best they can be
  • Working cross-functionally with other teams to understand and prioritize user asks, features, and tooling
  • Work with Commercial and Product stakeholders to ensure execution of Travel roadmap to meet business objectives
  • Running ongoing delivery and daily operations of services
  • Continuously improving the management and engineering processes for the team and services

We value Managers who have:

  • B.E or higher degree in Computer Science with 8+ years of experience
  • 2+ years of experience in leading a team of engineers
  • Experience building and growing a team of engineers
  • Experience designing and implementing large, scalable, distributed systems
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with multiple languages Java, Javascript, Python, etc.
  • Backend experience with RESTful API and RDBMS (MySQL, PostgreSQL etc.)
  • Proficiency in OO programming (Java preferred)
  • Been a role model for engineers on the team, providing timely coaching and mentoring to all

  • You have been responsible for building and leading a high-performance engineering team
  • You are highly technical with a strong background in computer science
  • You have a track record of handling technical design and completing projects with high quality
  • Good communication and collaboration skills and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • You have experience motivating teams towards delivering business results in a dynamic agile environment
  • You are comfortable operating at leadership level as well as getting your hands dirty
  • You have experience in related domains within e-commerce
  • You have made decisions that impact technical design, development, and planning for one or more projects/programs that impact multiple teams or functions
  • You frequently interact with multiple cross-functional teams and lead a cooperative effort to drive key technical projects
