Fire Protection Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Specialist to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our Building Engineering Services team, you will be responsible for overseeing, guiding, and developing a team of engineers in the field of fire protection and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regularly communicating with them to understand their needs and expectations.
- Coordinating with multiple disciplines and cross-functional teams, acting as lead fire engineer to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule while managing the Fire discipline (Tunnel ventilation systems, PCI, risk analysis).
- Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
- Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed.
- Preparation of fire protection expert opinions, reports, statements, and concepts.
- Review and, if necessary, preparation of associated fire protection, escape, and rescue plans.
- Develop detailed specifications and writing reports/documentation for internal and external purposes.
- Ensures discipline plans that are created to meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule.
- Fire protection construction supervision.
- Leads technical business development work.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus ten (10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or engineering, with a focus on fire protection and/or fire & life safety engineering experience.
- Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).
- Track record in Fire Protection and/or Fire & Life Safety engineering design and consulting on medium to large scale projects acting as Project Lead.
- Exposure to international regulations and standards (NFPA, BS, Country and regional fire codes, etc).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiar with HVAC, piping, mechanical, and other related disciplines within MEP.
- Experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software. Good knowledge of design software related to Fire discipline.
