Job Title: Fire Protection Discipline Lead

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Protection Discipline Lead to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our Building Engineering Services team, you will be responsible for overseeing, guiding, and developing a team of ten engineers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary point of contact for clients, responding to their inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, regularly communicating with them to understand their needs and expectations.
  • Coordinating with multiple disciplines and cross-functional teams, acting as lead fire engineer to ensure that projects are delivered within budget and on schedule while managing the Fire discipline (Tunnel ventilation systems, PCI, risk analysis).
  • Leads discipline department efforts to grow technical expertise.
  • Attend job site visits, project meetings, and commissioning activities as needed.
  • Preparation of fire protection expert opinions, reports, statements, and concepts.
  • Review and, if necessary, preparation of associated fire protection, escape, and rescue plans.
  • Develop detailed specifications and writing reports/documentation for internal and external purposes.
  • Ensures discipline plans that are created to meet overall project team requirements for project scope and schedule.
  • Fire protection construction supervision.
  • Leads technical business development work.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering plus ten (10) years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or engineering, with a focus on fire protection and/or fire & life safety engineering experience.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (oral and written).
  • Track record in Fire Protection and/or Fire & Life Safety engineering design and consulting on medium to large scale projects acting as Project Lead.
  • Exposure to international regulations and standards (NFPA, BS, Country and regional fire codes, etc).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with HVAC, piping, mechanical, and other related disciplines within MEP.
  • Experience working with computer-aided design (CAD) and building information modeling (BIM) software. Good knowledge of design software related to Fire discipline.
