About the Role

The Dean of Academic Affairs for Berklee College of Music is a key member of the executive team, responsible for driving the academic strategy and operations of the Valencia campus. This leadership role requires a seasoned educator and administrator with a proven track record of innovation and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Academic Leadership
    • Lead and manage the academic affairs staff team, comprising academic program directors, operations, technology, and library teams.
    • Oversee the hiring, onboarding, and assessment process of faculty, including promotions.
    • Ensure that program offerings align with Berklee's mission and vision.
    • Assess and monitor the sustainability and contributions of each program to the campus mission and vision.
    • Collaborate with program directors and academic curriculum committees on new and revised courses.
  • Management
    • Manage direct reports, including academic program directors, academic affairs/records and services team, manager of academic research and learning resources, director of technology, and artistic director.
    • Oversee budgets for academic affairs departments, including Valencia graduate programs, undergraduate and summer programs, and library and information services department.
  • Accreditation and Program Assessments
    • Lead the academic assessment of Valencia Campus programs.
    • Collaborate with the institutional research and assessment office in Boston on the accreditation of Valencia Campus programs by NECHE.
    • Manage the relationship with the quality assurance office at the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
    Requirements
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience teaching at the post-secondary level.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in an administrative and/or leadership capacity.
    • A master's degree.
    • Exceptional organizational and project management skills.
    • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, listening, and consensus-building skills.
    • Fluency in English (minimum C1 equivalency).
    • A willingness to learn Spanish (if not already fluent).
