Vantive: A New Chapter in Kidney Care

Baxter is embarking on a significant journey to separate its ~$5B Kidney Care segment into a standalone company. Vantive will build on the company's nearly 70-year legacy in acute therapies and home and in-center dialysis to provide best-in-class care to those in need. At Vantive, you will become part of a community of individuals who are focused, courageous, and driven to improve patients' lives worldwide. As a Senior Manager Government Affairs, you will report directly to the Head of Government Affairs & Market Development, EMEA, and will handle and lead the company's Spain government affairs, market development, and public policy functions.

This role will be involved in the company's commercial business development, informative program development, and regulatory strategies across Baxter's Kidney Care business across Spain. Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising and counseling company executives on public policy and governmental matters, including pending legislation/regulations and policy initiatives and their potential implications to the company.
  • Developing, in partnership with company executives and the regional business unit head, the company's government relations and public policy strategy and agenda in Spain to help prioritize actions and resources.
  • Participating and engaging in trade organizations, non-governmental organizations, and strategic industry groups that the Kidney Care segment is a member in to influence legislation, regulations, and public policy that affect the industry and advance the company's interests.
  • Developing relationships with key government officials in the central government, Members of Parliament, the Spanish National Health System, their staff, and administrative agency personnel on issues of importance to the company such as growing access to kidney care in the region.
  • Assisting in government business transactions with Ministries of Health, Finance, and other relevant government agencies.
  • Developing thought leadership and influencing commercial strategies.
  • Developing, in partnership with universities, government agencies, and key opinion leaders in the region, education programs and symposia to improve adoption of the best clinical practices.
  • Leading and balancing external and internal resources.

Requirements of the Successful Candidate

We are seeking candidates with 8-15 years of governmental or non-governmental organization and/or trade or industry association experience and/or experience within the private sector including:

  • Knowledge and ability to appropriately influence the political/policy process, including working with and managing consultants.
  • Experience in public policy making processes.
  • Experience in developing partnerships with trade associations and other industry partners to push an agenda.
  • Formulating and implementing business development, government relations, and external affairs policies.
  • Proven ability to analyze key regulatory and policy issues with respect to the company's strategic goals and to focus on those issues that advance (or could potentially inhibit) the company's competitive business interests.
  • Proven ability to partner effectively with internal business stakeholders.
  • Record of achievement and accomplishment.
  • Must be organized and a self-starter and comfortable working within a team located across the region.
