The ideal candidate will have a strong background in indirect tax and a proven track record of ensuring compliance with VAT regulations. They will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
The VAT Accountant will be responsible for:
- Pro-actively following up and resolving issues found in the reconciliation and VAT compliance process.
- Ensuring VAT, Intrastat, and ESL are reported correctly and timely for the assigned VAT registrations.
- E-filing of the declarations in the secured internet environment.
- Working closely with the cash team to ensure payments are made accurately and on time.
- Performing VAT reconciliations and following up with Accounts Payable team and Execution teams to ensure correct VAT treatment of transactions.
- Providing training to internal departments to expand their VAT knowledge ensuring the VAT compliance status of the company.
- Advising on ad hoc VAT issues and supporting the VAT team with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Supporting the local Tax managers in handling the external VAT Audits and queries.
- Participating in (technological) projects to improve the VAT compliance process.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Administration, or related field, and approximately 3 years of experience as a VAT Accountant in large companies. They will also be fluent in English and Spanish, and have strong numerical and analytical skills, as well as system knowledge (SAP, SAP S/4 HANA).
