**Job Summary**
Skydance Media is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Layout Technical Lead to join our team. As a key member of our animation department, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical and workflow needs of the Layout Department, as well as guiding and supporting our Technical Assistants.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Construct 3D scenes to provide a visual run-through of sets and bring storyboards to life.
- Communicate the story and give a cinematic aspect to scenes, ensuring a cohesive and engaging visual narrative.
- Aid in the rough layout of scenes, following storyboards to show how characters and environments appear on camera.
- Utilize storyboard animatics to create 3D scenes through character blocking and acting, applying visual elements provided by character design and modeling.
- Generate temporary FX, rigs, and assets to support the rough layout process, while maintaining an understanding of the artistic workflow to support artistic needs.
- Lead the Layout TA team, providing support, guidance, and instruction to contribute to their artistic, technical, and professional growth, ensuring all assets meet quality standards and artistic direction.
- Prioritize and manage internal team times for assigned sequences and tasks, while maintaining a strong sense of collaboration with other department leadership and technical workflows.
- Learn and utilize Skydance Media's internal pipeline, overseeing workflow steps from Scouting & Rough layout to Final Layout/Anim prep, including initial scene file prep and build with correct assets and editorial information.
- Help troubleshoot workflow issues and prioritize tool needs and improvements, staying up-to-date on current technology trends and tools that best suit the production and company.
**Requirements**
- 6+ years of professional experience in VFX or animation industries.
- At least 1 year of experience as Lead in the animation industry.
- Understanding of how tool use supports efficient cinematic storytelling.
- Knowledge of Maya, USD, Python, Mel, and overall CG workflow in a Windows environment.
- Advanced English level.
- Spanish oral and written, is desirable.
