Research Line Manager for Thermochemical Sustainable Fuels

POSITION OVERVIEW:
CIC energiGUNE is in search of a skilled professional specializing in sustainable energy production, particularly through thermochemical and thermocatalytic processes, to oversee the research line focused on Thermoconversion Routes for Sustainable Fuels within the Thermal Energy Storage and Conversion (TESC) sector.
The appointed professional will serve as a key figure in the TESC domain, shaping the trajectory of the technologies being explored. This role involves collaborating closely with the Scientific Director (SD), Technology Coordinator (TC), and Group Leaders (GLs) engaged in the research line, which includes Thermocatalysis and Ionic Liquids as well as Solid-State Chemical Reactions, to achieve excellence and facilitate technology transfer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Formulate the primary strategy for the research line in partnership with the SD, TC, and GLs, aligning with the strategic framework established by CIC energiGUNE.
- Establish clear annual objectives for the research line.
- Develop the annual budget for the research line to ensure the achievement of set goals.
- Conduct ongoing monitoring and provide support for the activities of the research line.
- Engage in effective communication with GLs, SD, and TC to foster innovative ideas and concepts that push the boundaries of current technologies in sustainable fuel generation.
- Stay informed about advancements in existing and emerging technologies relevant to the research line, ensuring adherence to the annual planning.
- Report any deviations from the established plan to the TESC management committee and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Seek funding opportunities, both public and private, alongside GLs to bolster the research line's initiatives.
- Participate in outreach activities, including peer-reviewed publications, technical conferences, and informative articles.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- PhD in science or engineering with a focus on application-oriented research, or related disciplines.
- Extensive knowledge of sustainable energy thermal generation technologies, both catalytic and non-catalytic, along with an understanding of market challenges and barriers.
- Experience in preparing R&D project proposals and/or leading and coordinating public and private R&D initiatives.
- Proven self-motivation and ability to work collaboratively as well as independently.
- Strong team player capable of collaborating with various groups within the TESC area and CIC energiGUNE, as well as academic and industrial partners.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
