Sustainable Fuels Research Line Manager for Thermochemical Processes

POSITION OVERVIEW:
CIC energiGUNE is in search of a seasoned expert in sustainable energy production, particularly through thermochemical and thermocatalytic methods, to oversee the research initiative focused on Thermoconversion Routes for Sustainable Fuels within the Thermal Energy Storage and Conversion sector (TESC).
The appointed expert will serve as a key figure in the TESC domain, guiding the trajectory of the technologies involved. This role will involve defining and steering the strategy to transition research findings into practical applications. Collaboration with the Scientific Director (SD), Technology Coordinator (TC), and Group Leaders (GLs) engaged in the research line (including Thermocatalysis and Ionic Liquids and Solid-State Chemical Reactions) will be essential to achieve excellence and facilitate technology transfer.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the SD, TC, and GLs to establish the primary strategy for the research line in alignment with CIC energiGUNE's strategic plan.
- Set clear annual objectives for the research line.
- Develop the annual budget for the research line to ensure target achievement.
- Continuously monitor and support the activities of the research line.
- Engage in effective communication with GLs, SD, and TC to foster innovative ideas and concepts that advance the development of groundbreaking technologies or enhance existing ones in sustainable fuel generation.
- Stay informed about advancements in both established and emerging technologies relevant to the research line, ensuring adherence to the annual planning.
- Report any deviations from the established plan to the TESC management committee and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- Seek funding opportunities, both public (regional, national, and international) and private, in collaboration with GLs to support research line activities.
- Participate in dissemination efforts, including peer-reviewed publications, technical conferences, and informative articles.

CANDIDATE PROFILE:
- PhD in science or engineering with a focus on application-oriented research, or related disciplines.
- Extensive knowledge in sustainable energy thermal generation technologies (both catalytic and non-catalytic), along with an understanding of market challenges and barriers.
- Experience in drafting R&D project proposals and/or leading and coordinating R&D projects in public and/or private sectors.
- Proven self-motivation and capability to work both collaboratively and independently.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate with various groups within the TESC area and/or CIC energiGUNE, as well as academic and industrial partners.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills in English.
