Job Description

The increasing reliance on conventional energy sources has led to a significant rise in global temperature, resulting in climate change. In recent years, substantial efforts have been made to develop alternative and more efficient energy solutions.

COOLed proposes the development of an innovative battery-free technology to harness electricity from cold space, enabling the powering of Internet of Things (IoT) devices in smart cities.

We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher with a strong background in physics, chemistry, materials science, or engineering, and expertise in thermoelectric devices or radiative cooling. The successful candidate will work on the thermoelectric properties and device fabrication of our innovative technology.

The project has been awarded €2M by the European Research Council, and we are looking for a candidate with good English abilities and personal skills. Previous experience in material nanostructuration, thermoelectric characterization techniques, and/or thermoelectric or radiative cooler devices is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on thermoelectric properties and device fabrication
  • Develop and characterize thermoelectric devices
  • Collaborate with the research team to achieve project goals

Requirements:

  • PhD degree in a relevant field
  • Strong background in thermoelectric devices or radiative cooling
  • Good English abilities and personal skills
  • Previous experience in material nanostructuration, thermoelectric characterization techniques, and/or thermoelectric or radiative cooler devices
