About the RoleWe're seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Applied Research Scientist to join our Azure Data engineering team. As a member of this team, you'll have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and collaborate with a diverse group of researchers and engineers.
Responsibilities- Establish Collaborative Relationships
- Establish collaborative relationships with relevant product and business groups inside or outside of Microsoft and provide expertise or technology to create business impact.
- Drive Business Impact
- Take initiative and drive activities such as technology transfers, standards organizations, filing patents, authoring white papers, developing or maintaining tools/services for internal Microsoft use, or consulting for product or business groups.
- Apply Research Efforts
- Bring new technology and approaches into production by applying long-term research efforts to solve immediate product needs.
- Develop Solutions
- Independently work to create product impact by identifying approach, and applying, improving, or creating a research-backed solution to positively impact a Microsoft product or service.
- Share Knowledge
- Serve as an expert within product domain and share knowledge of changes in industry trends and advances in applied technologies with engineers and product teams.
- Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND extensive related experience.
- OR Master's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience.
- OR Doctorate in Computer Science, or Computer Engineering, or related field AND related experience.
- Experience
- Extensive experience with one or more of the following languages: C#, Java, Python, C++, Rust.
- Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor.
