Senior Applied Scientist/Research Sde

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Applied Scientist/Research Sde to join our Azure Data engineering team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for establishing collaborative relationships with product and business groups to provide expertise and technology that drives business impact.
You will take initiative to drive activities such as technology transfers, standards organizations, patent filings, and authoring white papers. You will also bring new technology and approaches into production by applying long-term research efforts to solve immediate product needs.
As a researcher, you will collaborate with and bridge the gap between researchers and development teams. You will negotiate across teams to ensure cutting-edge technology is applied to products in a practical way that meets key business objectives.
Responsibilities- Establishes collaborative relationships with product and business groups to provide expertise and technology that drives business impact.
- Takes initiative to drive activities such as technology transfers, standards organizations, patent filings, and authoring white papers.
- Brings new technology and approaches into production by applying long-term research efforts to solve immediate product needs.
- Collaborates with and bridges the gap between researchers and development teams.
- Negotiates across teams to ensure cutting-edge technology is applied to products in a practical way that meets key business objectives.
- Develops an understanding of research approaches used across a group or organization to leverage solutions.
- Independently works to create product impact by identifying approaches and applying, improving, or creating research-backed solutions.
- Serves as an expert within product domain, sharing knowledge of changes in industry trends and advances in applied technologies with engineers and product teams.
- Reviews business and product requirements and incorporates state-of-the-art research or previously tested solutions to formulate plans that meet business goals.
We are looking for candidates with a Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, and extensive related experience. Alternatively, a Master's or Doctorate degree in a related field with related experience is also acceptable.
Candidates should have extensive experience with one or more of the following languages: C#, Java, Python, C++, Rust. Experience publishing academic papers as a lead author or essential contributor is also required.
