Job Title: Senior Technician - Immune Response and Biomarkers Core Facility

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is a leading research institution addressing global public health challenges through innovative research, translation into policy, and education. Our institute has a strong portfolio in communicable and non-communicable diseases, including environmental and climate determinants, and applies a multidisciplinary scientific approach ranging from the molecular to the population level.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technician to join our Immune Response and Biomarkers Core Facility at ISGlobal. This position will play a crucial role in consolidating a platform of excellence to better integrate research on biomarkers and immune responses on infectious diseases, exposome, and non-communicable diseases. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in immune assays and biomarker profiling, from protocol interpretation and development to experimental design, assay execution, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, develop, and execute immunological assays and biomarker profiling as part of the portfolio of services at the ISGlobal Core Facility
  • Measure biomarkers of infectious diseases, non-communicable diseases, exposome, and immunopathology
  • Write and update Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support the setup and exploration of N-glycans as biomarkers in malaria, other infectious diseases, and post-vaccination responses
  • Implement tasks according to QA procedures (ISO 9001)
Requirements
  • PhD in biomedical sciences, biotechnology, microbiology, or a related field
  • Extensive hands-on experience in immune assays and biomarker profiling
  • Desirable: experience in multiplex technologies, including Luminex assays
  • Desirable: molecular biology and microbiology experience in cloning and expression of proteins
  • Desirable: basic knowledge of software (GraphPad) and/or programming languages (e.g., R) for data QC, preprocessing, and descriptive statistics
