Director of Rooms Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Director of Rooms to join our pre-opening team at SLS Barcelona. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for managing the Front Office, Guest Services, Housekeeping, and Laundry departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences and maximize room revenue.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the PBX team in delivering consistent service in line with hotel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate the organization and administrative functions in all areas of the Rooms Division.
  • Manage the Rooms Division daily, ensuring clear communication with and amongst departments to provide complete guest and team member satisfaction.
  • Evaluate the performance of each Rooms Division department and take corrective actions when necessary.
  • Establish and champion SLS-specific Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the Rooms Division.
  • Attend, lead, and participate in various hotel and departmental meetings.
  • Conduct interviews for all corresponding departments.
  • Work with the Executive Committee to determine strategy, training, and tools needed to ensure team members can provide exceptional guest service.
  • Facilitate training and development for Rooms Division team members to SLS and Ennismore standards and style.
  • Monitor and review guest comments and feedback to identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond directly to guests as necessary.
  • Partner with the Hotel Manager to monitor daily availability and occupancy and communicate with Revenue to resolve any challenges.
  • Participate in Fire Safety and Loss Prevention programs.

Requirements

  • Experience in hospitality, restaurants, and nightlife required.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in the hotel industry, preferably in an upscale or lifestyle brand hotel.
  • Proven team leader with a high level of energy and motivation, with a proven track record of living the company's values.
  • Proficient understanding of computer systems such as Opera, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as point-of-sale systems.
  • Ability to multitask, work in a fast-paced environment, and have a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with fluency in Spanish and English.
  • Solid understanding of local legal compliance requirements.
  • Ability to make people feel good - team members, guests, and colleagues alike.
  • Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to manage and inspire others to achieve their best.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, with the ability to work with other teams and leaders.
  • Ability to take ownership of important issues, solve problems, and make effective decisions.
