Position: Work Planner
Employment Type: Full-Time/Non-Exempt
Reports To: Foreperson/General Foreperson
Key Responsibilities of the Work Planner at Wright Tree Service:
- Secures verbal or written consent from property owners, municipalities, or businesses for tree trimming, removal, or herbicide application. Ensures all necessary permits are obtained and coordinates access with customers, informing them of any potential disruptions.
- Maintains and ensures the accuracy of all records and reports related to customer permissions and notifications, communicating effectively with the General Foreperson and crew.
- Plans and organizes work for crew members, taking into account factors such as equipment accessibility, timeframes for completion, cleanup requirements, available tools, weather conditions, and specific customer instructions.
- Understands and adheres to all relevant work methods associated with line clearance operations.
- Conducts inspections of right-of-ways to evaluate vegetation conditions and determine necessary maintenance actions.
- Addresses inquiries and concerns regarding work specifications and requirements.
- Reviews completed work by crew or contractors to ensure compliance with utility specifications.
- Assists in managing crew or contractors during storm restoration efforts.
- Provides support for special projects as assigned by the utility.
- May be required to work in challenging terrain due to the nature of the responsibilities.
- Performs additional related duties as assigned.
Qualifications for the Work Planner at Wright Tree Service:
- Demonstrates strong leadership abilities and can effectively manage stressful situations while multitasking.
- Possesses a foundational understanding of trees, including identification, growth patterns, and proper arboricultural techniques for trimming, pruning, and maintenance, especially near energized conductors.
- Familiar with the American National Standards for Tree Care Operations (ANSI).
- Has a basic understanding of electrical circuits and is skilled in reading and interpreting circuit maps.
- Exhibits professional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the public, customers, and colleagues.
- Successfully completes an approved customer relations course and understands all relevant work methods applicable to the position.
- Must achieve ISA certification within 90 days of employment.
- Enforces safety practices on the job.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Capable of entering and exiting a vehicle multiple times throughout the day.
- Able to work in various weather conditions, including rain, heat, sun, cold, and snow.
- Proficient in reading, writing, and comprehending job-related instructions and information.
- Ability to represent Wright Tree Service professionally in all interactions.
- Willingness to work extended hours and overtime during emergencies, including holidays and weekends, and be available for call-out work.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Holds a valid medical card for driving company vehicles over 10,001 lbs. GVWR or GVW.
- Possesses valid First-Aid and CPR certifications.
