Role Overview

Colt Technology Services seeks an experienced Optical Network Engineer to join our team. As an Optical Network Engineer, you will be responsible for proactively monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving faults across a pan-European Ethernet and optical infrastructure, ensuring seamless service delivery to our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and troubleshoot complex optical and Ethernet-based network issues, applying advanced technical knowledge to resolve faults and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Field Maintenance and Technical Assistance Centre, to coordinate tasks and ensure efficient issue resolution.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of customer bespoke networks and services, ensuring proactive issue prevention and resolution.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, acting as a Single Point of Contact for customer issues and concerns.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key interconnect partners and vendors, fostering collaboration and driving business growth.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology advancements, industry trends, and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve network performance and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
  • Proven experience in Transmission Services and Technologies, including Ethernet, WDM, DWDM, TDM, ADM, DCS, DXC, SDH, and PDH.
  • Familiarity with network management systems, such as Netcool, SMARTS, CiscoWorks, InfoVista, TACACS, and Vendor Specific Element Managers.
  • Excellent knowledge of LAN (Ethernet) based products and experience with global providers, NOC, and Field operators for technical issues.
  • Fluent in English, with a second European language an advantage.
