About the Role

The Kitchen Assistant plays a vital role in the success of a Sur La Table store by providing exceptional customer service and supporting the Resident Chef in driving business results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide outstanding customer service, creating a memorable experience for every customer.
  • Assist with food preparation and class setup, including shopping for ingredients.
  • Wash dishes and maintain a clean kitchen environment before, during, and after cooking classes.
  • Support the instructor during classes, identifying opportunities to contribute to the success of the event.
  • Contribute to store goals through product knowledge and sales, including handling alcohol sales.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the store's objectives.
Requirements
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise and/or kitchen equipment up to 35lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform tasks that require manual dexterity, such as chopping, whisking, slicing, and stirring.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends, with a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • Valid Food Handlers and/or Food Manager Certification.
  • 1 year of retail sales and/or food prep and kitchen operations experience preferred.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
