About the Role
The Childcare and Family Policies Chair at the Institute for Advanced Family Studies (IESF) is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Fellow to work in the area of childcare and family policies at UIC Barcelona.
The team conducts research on various topics, including the relationship between families and school, childcare, time use surveys, bullying, and cyberbullying, and family policies.
Key Responsibilities
The postdoctoral fellow will take a leadership role in the Chair, mentored by Prof. Montserrat Gas and Prof. Marc Grau. Our Chair focuses on qualitative and quantitative analysis of existing and open datasets.
Duties will include:
- Carrying out and supervising data analyses
- Writing manuscripts for publication in scientific journals
- Assisting with and leading the writing of grant applications for research funding
- Communicating with research funders and project administration
Requirements
PhD degree in Sociology, Psychology, Social Policy, or Education is required. Previous work on family studies is preferred.
Assessment Criteria
The following aspects of the applicant's CV will be considered:
- Professional knowledge and experience (75%): The ability to undertake mentored research with a high degree of independence. Special attention will be paid to applicants who have made valuable contributions in the area of scientific productivity by publishing research papers in high-impact journals.
- Research experience abroad in the area of family studies will be valued (55%).
- Specific techniques (30%): Qualitative analyses, statistical analysis, specialized software.
- Proficiency in speaking and writing in English (15%).
- Competences (25%): To know and share the mission, vision, and values of the University (20%). Initiative, commitment, and communication skills (20%). The ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse team (15%). Flexibility and adaptability (15%). The ability to supervise and guide undergraduate and graduate students in their research projects (10%).
