We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Molecular Genetics Research Assistant to join our team at Universidad Politécnica de Cartagena.

Job Description

The successful candidate will be involved in laboratory assays for pathogen resistance, studying specific regions of the genome, and analyzing the complete genome of the gilthead sea bream and chicken. Key responsibilities include:

  • DNA extraction
  • DNA quantification using NanoDrop and Qubit
  • PCR execution
  • Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS)
  • Measuring meat quality (FAME, Soxhlet) and carcass quality parameters
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong technical skills in programming and laboratory work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to manage time effectively and solve problems
  • Leadership skills
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in Biology, Veterinary Medicine, Agricultural Sciences, or biotechnology
Salary and Benefits

This full-time position comes with a competitive salary of approximately $25,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additionally, you will receive benefits including health insurance, paid time off, and opportunities for professional growth and development.
