About the RoleWe are seeking a highly skilled Platform Software Engineer 4 to join our Data Infrastructure team, part of the Technical Platform group. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and evolving the Data Infrastructure, following modern cloud-native best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Architecture, Product Engineering, and Security teams to design and develop the Data Infrastructure.
- Help make the Technical Platform a self-service offering, enabling Product Engineering teams to easily and reliably build on top of it.
- Contribute to Nexthink's tooling and automation frameworks for provisioning and scaling the infrastructure, with a focus on resiliency and elasticity strategies.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Monitor and observe the platform, building and managing tooling to assess the health of data pipelines.
- Ensure operational reliability, managing the availability of databases and streaming platforms, and understanding and communicating scale, capacity, security, resilience, and performance attributes and requirements.
- Participate in incident management and response, detecting, diagnosing, and fixing incidents at required Service Levels, and owning the post-mortem process by writing technical content for customers and internal stakeholders.
- Take on-call responsibilities in rotation with the engineering team.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, DevOps Engineer, Platform Engineer, or Site Reliability Engineer, with knowledge of professional software development best practices.
- Experience with distributed systems and streaming technologies, with familiarity with Apache Kafka desired.
- Expertise in database cluster deployment, configuration, backup/restore, and production operations.
- Experience operating services on Linux systems and container technologies, such as Docker.
- Good knowledge of monitoring solutions, such as Datadog.
- Experience administering and deploying on cloud-based platforms, using infrastructure as code, configuration management tools, and pipeline creation tools.
- Experience with programming languages, such as Go, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, and/or Bash.
- Experience building self-service internal development platforms and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solutions.
- Strong problem-solving skills, proactive attitude, collaborative mindset, and excellent organizational skills.
- Curiosity to learn new things and discover new technologies.
- Ability to work with an agile iterative/incremental mindset.
- Strong communication skills and professional level of English.
