Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health and Safety Senior Specialist to join our Operations Department at QIAGEN Gruppe. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining environmental, health, and safety programs and policies in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement EHS Programs: Create and maintain comprehensive EHS programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct Regular Inspections and Audits: Perform regular inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with EHS standards.
  • Provide Training and Education: Develop and deliver training programs to employees on EHS policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
  • Investigate Accidents and Incidents: Conduct thorough investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work closely with cross-functional teams to assess workplace hazards and implement controls to mitigate risks, including those related to biosafety in biological research or laboratory settings.
  • Stay Informed of Regulatory Changes: Stay up-to-date on changes in EHS regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.
  • Develop Emergency Response Plans: Assist in the development and implementation of emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct Risk Assessments: Conduct risk assessments and develop strategies to minimize occupational health risks.
  • Participate in EHS Committees: Participate in EHS committees and meetings to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
Requirements
  • Master's Degree in Occupational Safety and Health: A master's degree in occupational safety and health or a related field is required.
  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience working in the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry is required.
  • EHS Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in EHS is required.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English and Spanish is required. Fluency in Catalan is highly valued.
