Role Overview

The Community Engineer at Canonical plays a pivotal role in empowering community leaders and participants to drive project success. This involves strategic collaboration with Canonical teams to ensure community processes are efficient and well-organized.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Support community initiatives with technical expertise and strong organizational skills.
  2. Facilitate the creation of new technical projects that enhance the community contribution experience.
  3. Represent community interests to Canonical teams and ensure their success and autonomy.
  4. Provide content and technical support to keep the community engaged and informed through regular blog and social media posts.
  5. Communicate effectively with developers and software engineers, representing the Ubuntu community and Canonical in the wider Linux ecosystem.
  6. Attend conferences and expos to discuss technical community projects and development processes.

Work Environment

This is a globally remote role with potential opportunities for travel to internal and external events.

What You'll Do

  1. Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
  2. Write high-quality content to promote and support community initiatives.
  3. Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding solutions to community problems.
  4. Nurture community contributions to Ubuntu.
  5. Engage with the Ubuntu community through various channels.
  6. Represent Ubuntu via speaking engagements at events and conferences.
