About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Operations Developer to join our team at the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG). As a pivotal member of our team, you will take on responsibilities investigating and resolving operational processes on a daily basis contributing to the project National IMPaCT-Data.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Investigate and resolve operational issues related to data infrastructure, ensuring seamless functioning of EGA services and databases.
  2. Apply expertise to implement effective solutions, leveraging skills and problem-solving abilities to drive continuous improvement and streamlining of operational processes.
  3. Collaborate with the team to identify and address immediate challenges, as well as contribute to the development of long-term solutions.
  4. Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data infrastructure, cloud computing, and related technologies.
Requirements
  1. Expertise in advanced PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL and replication.
  2. Advanced Python skills.
  3. Knowledge on AWS, specifically for S3, EC2, SES.
  4. Familiarity with messaging software, specifically RabbitMQ.
  5. Knowledge on Jenkins for automating software development processes, ensuring smooth integration and deployment.
  6. Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to efficiently process and manage large volumes of data.
  7. Advanced Linux systems administration.
  8. Knowledge on Docker and related tooling.
  9. Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Big Data database technologies.
Education and Training

You hold a Degree in Computational Science or a related field with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position. Proven experience in Linux distributions, as well as experience in databases, system security, and related technologies.

Desirable but Not Required
  1. C programming language experience.
  2. Genomics data expertise: knowledge of genomics data, including data types, tools, pipelines, and indexing technologies.
  3. Spanish and/or Catalan language skills.
