Job Title: Senior Operations Developer

About the Centre for Genomic Regulation:
The Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG) is a leading international biomedical research institute based in Barcelona, Spain. Our team of experts is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the genome and its role in human health and disease.

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Developer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating and resolving operational processes on a daily basis, contributing to the project National IMPaCT-Data. This is a unique opportunity to work with a talented team of scientists and engineers to drive our organisation and project success.

Key Responsibilities:
* Investigate and resolve operational issues on a daily basis
* Implement effective solutions to ensure seamless functioning of the EGA services and databases
* Contribute to the continuous improvement and streamlining of our operational processes
* Collaborate with the team to drive our organisation and project success

Requirements:
* Expertise in advanced PostgreSQL, including PL/pgSQL and replication
* Advanced Python skills
* Knowledge of AWS, specifically for S3, EC2, SES
* Familiarity with messaging software, specifically RabbitMQ
* Experience with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) pipelines to efficiently process and manage large volumes of data
* Advanced Linux systems administration
* Knowledge of Docker and related tooling
* Proficiency in SQL and familiarity with Big Data database technologies

Education and Training:
* Degree in Computational Science or a related field
* Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar position

Language and Competences:
* Fluency in English, as it is the working language of the group
* Exceptional organisational skills
* Autonomous problem-solver
* Proficient in writing documentation
* Accurate and detail-oriented
* Team player

Desirable but not required:
* Genomics data expertise: knowledge of genomics data, including data types, tools, pipelines, and indexing technologies
* Spanish and/or Catalan language skills

The Offer:
* Long-term contract, linked to the duration of the project
* Estimated annual gross salary: salary is commensurate with qualifications and consistent with our pay scales
* Target start date: as soon as possible
